Dr. Surita Jhangiani, PhD & Dr. Carolee Clyne, PhD, MEd, BTech

This talk aims to introduce Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and explain how this researched educational framework works well with the core values and ideas of Open Education. These fit together to create inclusive learning opportunities for all.

Dr. Surita Jhangiani is a tenure track instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia. Her teaching specializations are lifespan development, diversity, and critical pedagogy. Her current research focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning, and open educational resources.

Dr Carolee Clyne is a learning strategy consultant with a focus on Universal Design for Learning in higher education. She focuses on how faculty can adapt their classrooms to embed UDL, practices of open educational resources, and open pedagogy to create an engaging and inclusive learning space for everyone through proactive design.
