ASCILITE’s major sponsorship actviity is the annual conference and a range of sponsors support ASCILITE at these conferences. Further information, including sponsor packages are available from the conference organizing committee responsible for each year’s event. Webinar Sponsor – Blackboard (Australia & New Zealand)
Blackboard provides ASCILITE with a complimentary Collaborate account that allows ASCILITE to deliver meaningful webinars to ASCILITE members. Collaborate is also used by the ASCILITE Executive Committee for its online meetings and by several Special Interest Groups (SIGS) for their meetings.
Blackboard was founded in 1997 with a vision to enable educational innovations everywhere by connecting people and technology, Blackboard is a leading provider of e-Education enterprise software applications and services. In 2013, the company bought Netspot consisting of five software applications bundled in two suites, the Blackboard Academic Suite and the Blackboard Commerce Suite. Netspot has been a long-term sponsor of ASCILITE and its founder, Allan Christie, is an ASCILITE Life Member. Allan registered the ASCILITE domain name in 1993 used to establish ASCILITE’s first website. In 2013 he was co-opted to the Executive Committee and in 2016 he was elected as the society’s Treasurer.
