This is a reminder that the Annual General Meeting will take place today, Monday 24 November during the conference in Dunedin. The meeting details are as follows:

ascilite2014 is in full swing on Monday after a day of successful workshops on Sunday. The weather in Dunedin is mild helping to make for a great conference with an exciting line-up of keynotes and other presentations. Don’t forget to tweet! – the official hashtag is #ascilite2014
ascilite Welcomes New Executives
The results of the recent ascilite Executive Committee elections are now in and we are pleased to be able to welcome new committee members. Sadly, a number of long serving committee members are retiring from the committee this year but a new and enthusiastic executive committee for 2015 takes effect as of Monday, 24 November.
The poll to elect new committee members closed on 28 October and over 100 ascilite members voted for four of eight nominees. As a result, the Executive is excited to welcome to the committee Chris Campbell, Lecturer in ICT Education at the University of Queensland and John Egan, Director of the Learning Technology Unit at the University of Auckland.
Sue Gregory from UNE was pleased to be re-elected to the committee and continue her work with the community mentoring program and ascilite awards and Mark Northover, who was co-opted to the committee earlier in the year, was also formally elected to the committee.
In addition, members at the AGM will be asked to endorse existing committee member, Mark Nichols as the new ascilite Treasurer since his was the only nomination received for that position. He will be replacing Mark Brown who has now retired. Mark Brown contributed greatly to the ascilite Executive and many of you will recall the highly successful 2012 ascilite conference at Massey which Mark organized as convenor. Mark Brown is now Director, National Institute for Digital Learning at Dublin City University in Ireland.
Two other long serving ascilite committee members have also retired, Shirley Reushle, from the University of Southern Queensland and Elizabeth Greener from the Queensland University of Technology. Shirley was chair of the ascilite Community Mentoring Programme for several years and was instrumental in the recent ascilite website redevelopment project. Liz Greener also made significant contributions while on the committee and worked with Shirley on the ascilite website project while developing new communication strategies for ascilite’s social media presence.
Mark Brown, Shirley and Liz will be missed and the Executive thanks them for the enormous contributions they made to ascilite. We wish each of them all the best in the future.
We are also grateful to each of the nominees who put themselves forward for the poll and the Executive wishes to extend its best wishes to each of them as well.
Update: National Peer Review of Assessment Network
Please find below a summary of the recent National Peer Review of Assessment Network Forum. The Peer Review Network Team in recent months has held 6 State-based workshops across Australia so far with 330 participants. We also have a workshop planned in Tasmania on 3 December 2014.
We have really appreciated the feedback from the HE sector on the important issue of peer review of assessment. Information, presentations and resources on the workshops and the national Peer Review of Assessment Network Forum can be found on the SERRU website.
An inaugural forum was held on 12 November at the Park Royal Hotel, Melbourne Airport with the title “Assuring Grades across Course Boundaries”. The forum was hosted by Higher Education Services (HES) and Dr Sara Booth (University of Tasmania), project leader in an OLT Network Grant, Peer Review of Assessment Network.
With the new proposed Higher Education Standards Framework, the Higher Education Standards Panel (HESP) has placed the importance on peer review and external referencing as ways to assure the quality of academic standards across the sector.
The forum brought together over 130 participants (36 universities, 22 private providers, 2 international universities and representatives from Deans Councils and TEQSA) to hold a national conversation on the peer review of assessment.
We are grateful to the Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) and Higher Education Services(HES) for their continued support for this project and they are keen to take the project to the next stage.

Job Vacancy: University of Otago
The University of Otago, located in Dunedin, New Zealand, has a ob vacancy within its Dunedin School of Medicine for a full time Lecturer or Professional Practice Fellow in eLearning. The school is looking to appoint an individual with expert knowledge of tertiary education methods and eLearning, preferably in a health related field.
The position is responsible for providing academic leadership and support for eLearning developments in teaching programmes across the School and will include taking a lead role in staff development, mentorship and coaching in online pedagogy and use of technology in healthcare education.
