Abstract:
The Activity-Centred Analysis and Design (ACAD) Framework is an analytical tool, created to help educators and researchers understand and improve the design of complex learning situations. ACAD highlights design structures at two distinct moments: (i) ‘design time’ – which accounts for the advanced planning that occurs as an educator selects tasks, tools, and complementary social arrangements to support a specific learning scenarios; and (ii) ‘learning time’ or what happens as a learning activity unfolds. In this presentation Lucila Carvalho will introduce key ideas connected to the ACAD Framework and discuss the application of these analytical ideas by educational researchers and designers across universities and school contexts.
