How do students learn and retain new information?

11 May 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm AEST

The second webinar in our new series on “How learning science can inform learning analytics” will be presented by Dr Tanya Evans – Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Auckland and Head of the Mathematics Education Unit.

Our understanding of the mechanisms involved in how students learn and retain new information has advanced substantially over the last five decades by employing mathematical modelling and experiential testing of those models. In this talk, I will demonstrate how I have used the latest research in this space in my practice to improve student learning, and how data can help us to address some of the main debates taking place in this research sphere relating to Higher Education.
