The two ‘AIs’ – academic integrity and artificial intelligence

23 February 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm AEDT

ChatGPT offers or threatens a paradigm shift in assessment in higher education, and we are all striving to stay afloat. We know we will change practices – what about our mindsets?

From our last TELedvisors webinar, and from the different discussions that we have been following on this topic, we have all been trying to make sense of these opportunities and challenges to our work. The relationship of the two AIs is a central concern: does our understanding of academic integrity need to change in relation to artificial intelligence? More fundamentally, what are we actually assessing, and where can we support the building and creating of knowledge and skills?

To address these issues, we have invited Dr Alex Sims to talk with us. Alex has been considering these shifts and adapting her assessment methods over several years.

In the second half of the webinar, building on Alex’s lead, we will open up the discussion to pursue some of the topics and questions that you identify as crucial to your work and your institution.

Please bring your questions to the session as we take an in-depth look at the two AIs.
