Sharing lessons in educational technology: what can schools and universities learn from each other?

Many students go from school into tertiary education, but what is their experience of educational technology as they make that transition? How can we draw from each others’ work to improve learning environments and match students’ needs and expectations? What can teachers and researchers working in schools and universities learn from each other?

In this online panel session, four people who work at the crossover between universities and schools will talk with us on what they see as common ground and on where innovations in practice and technology are ready to be shared.

This webinar is offered to the TELedvisor communities and also to those who would ordinarily be attending EdTechPosium 2020 in the ACT. This year’s EdTechPosium conference has been cancelled, but we hope to meet face-to-face next year, with Canberra Grammar as our venue. Meanwhile, enjoy this online taster on one of the conference themes.

The Panel

Dr Adam Staples. After his training in Fine Arts at the Slade School, University College London, Adam studied Primary Education and was a teacher educator at Australian Catholic University with a special interest in online teaching. He is now Senior Lecturer, Arts Education / STEAM at La Trobe University, Bendigo.

Emily Hills. Emily started her career teaching Japanese and English and was a high school teacher in English in the ACT before taking up her role as Assistant Professor in teacher education at the University of Canberra. She continues to maintain her expertise as a teaching professional and is completing a doctorate in Education.

Assoc. Prof. Matt Bower. Once a high school Maths teacher, and then a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in ICT, Matt is now Associate Professor of Learning Technologies in the School of Education at Macquarie University and the author (among many other publications) of Design of technology-enhanced learning: Integrating research and practice (2017).
