Invitation to join the New Business Education SIG
Members (and non-members) are now invited to join the new Business Education SIG which aims to encourage, empower and enable business educators. Membership in ASCILITE SIGs is free and open to ASCILITE members and non-members alike. A session to introduce the new SIG to conference delegates is scheduled to take place at ASCILITE 2019.

Invitation to submit an EOI for leadership of the ASCILITE Learning Design SIG
The Learning Design Special Interest Group is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from ASCILITE members who may be interested in assuming leadership of the LD-SIG in 2020. You must be a current ASCILITE member to lead a SIG, but all ASCILITE SIGs are open to members and non-members and there are no fees to join. SIGs are permitted to have up to four leaders, so EOIs are invited from a single individual or a group. The operation of ASCILITE SIGs are governed by ASCILITE’s SIG Policy document.
SIG leaders are expected to organize activities of interest to their members, maintain communication with members and to also represent their SIG at the ASCILITE conference. SIG activities must be in line with ASCITITE’s current Strategic Plan. The LD-SIG currently has over 230 members from a wide range of tertiary institutions in Australia, New Zealand and further afield.

A meeting of the LD-SIG is scheduled at the ASCILITE 2019 conference in Singapore on Wednesday 4 December at 1pm and interested parties who are at the conference are welcome to join the discussion of the SIG’s plans and leadership options. Position Available: Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Learning and Teaching, University of Melbourne
The Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor Learning and Teaching is part of the Business College Executive team. The incumbent is responsible for development, implementation, maintenance and quality assurance of innovative approaches to learning, teaching and identification and implementation of program development across Higher Education at all locations globally.
The Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor Learning and Teaching is responsible for:
- Driving high level strategic leadership in learning and teaching at school, college and university level in Australia and offshore.
- Implementing the University’s Strategic Plan 2020, focussing on the Learning and Teaching elements within the directions, goals and priorities therein.
- Ensuring effective development and delivery of engaging, innovative, internationally recognised academic programs.
- Ensuring useful pathways and engaging learning opportunities for all students.
The Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor Learning and Teaching is expected to work collaboratively in support of the University’s strategic directions and towards:
- Implementing the University’s Strategic Plan 2020, focussing on the Learning and Teaching elements within the directions, goals and priorities therein
- Offering students and staff a global passport to learning and work opportunities
- Creating an experience for students which is stimulating and satisfying
- Developing staff who are focused on the needs of our students and our partners
- Developing a culture that embraces change and innovation
- Building staff capability and strengthening scholarship in learning and teaching
- Identifying and implementing innovative programs.
Expected outcomes of the position:
- Improved program quality, relevance and viability
- Consistent, effective and innovative delivery across all locations globally and increasingly digitally available
- Increased scholarship of learning and teaching
- Effective academic review and approval of College programs and courses
- Increased cross disciplinary focus across programs and Colleges
