ASCILITE 2019 Conference registration opens
The 2019 conference organizing team is pleased to announce that Early Bird registration is now open for the conference here.
The conference team is working hard to finalize an exciting 2019 conference program and has confirmed several Keynote speakers to date including Emeritus Professor Mike Sharples, Emeritus Professor of Educational Technology from the Institute of Educational Technology, The Open University, UK and Professor Koh Hian Chye, Professor and Director, Business Intelligence & Analytics at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
Conference highlights will include:

eAssessment SIG Webinar – Making technology enhanced assessment effective: what works?

ASCILITE Live! Webinar – A multidisciplinary approach to embedding digital literacy across the curricula

The Professional Literacy Suite (PLS) is a set of three embedded digital literacy modules developed to translate Deakin University’s Graduate Learning Outcome of Digital Literacy and support employability. The PLS is the first suite of online digital and professional literacy modules created at a course wide level at Deakin University. Digital literacy and employability skills were identified as educational skill gaps as part of a key Business course renewal.
This session will give an overview of the PLS an how the multidisciplinary project team implemented and scaffolded the suite across the course. Participants will have the opportunity to see how the modules are embedded within the student Learning Management System, interact with the modules themselves and consider how it may be applied at their own institutions.
This project was awarded the 2018 ASCILITE Innovation Award in recognition of outstanding innovation in the development of the Professional Literacy Suite, as the project lead.

We are seeking a proactive, customer-focussed Educational Media Producer to provide guidance, support and advice to teaching staff in the production of multimedia resources for student learning experiences, and to support the design and build of their online learning environments.
About the Role
UTS aims to engage students in a seamless blend of online and face-to-face learning experiences that realise the potential of integrating the creative use of new technologies with face-to-face learning in new campus spaces and with learning in the workplace and community.
As part of a team in the UTS LX.lab you will manage all aspects of small-scale video productions for learning and teaching and collaborate effectively with academics to design videos, understanding and interpreting their learning and teaching needs. You will produce a range of multimedia resources including welcome videos, concept videos, flipped lectures and screen recordings, both for learning and teaching projects and to support academics’ professional learning.
You will play a large role in building our academics’ media literacy by providing practical guidance on scoping, filming and editing their own videos for use in learning and teaching via training sessions and 1-1 support.
At times you will also support academics in the building and maintenance of their online learning environments, supporting a diverse range of technologies that encourage online student interaction and participation.
About You
As this is a frontline support role, your strong client focus and ability to build and maintain client relationships will be key to your success. You will be a strong advocate for the use of multi-media in learning and teaching and comfortable interacting with learning management systems, preferably Canvas.
You will also have:
- Strong technical skills across all aspects of the video and related media production process
- Knowledge of educational multimedia best practice and accessibility requirements relating to multimedia
- Experience working with academics and learning technologies in an educational environment
- Experience in leading small scale end to end video productions, from pre-production to screen
- Experience using SLR and DSLR cameras, lighting and sound equipment to produce videos
- Significant experience with professional video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere.

Registration for the 2019 ALT Annual Conference 2019 – Data, Dialogue, Doing, taking place 3–5 September 2019 at the University of Edinburgh closed on 9 July.
