Getting to Macquarie University
Macquarie University’s North Ryde campus is uniquely located in parklands less than 30 minutes from Sydney’s city centre.
In 2009, we became the first university in Australia to have our own train station on campus, connecting us to the city via underground rail.
With the train station, abundant on-site parking and revamped bus services, it is now even easier to get to Macquarie than ever before.
There are plenty of accommodation options available within walking distance of the conference that accommodate a range of budgets – special deals will soon be available via this website.

About Macquarie
The 30th ascilite Conference 2013 host, Macquarie University, has recently been named Australia’s highest-ranking young university in reports published by both QS and the Times Higher Education, placing Macquarie first among the nation’s universities under 50 years of age. Internationally, the QS ‘Top 50 Under 50’ ranked Macquarie 16th in the world, while the Times Higher Education ‘100 Under 50’ rating placed Macquarie at joint-33rd globally.
Situated in leafy North Ryde, Macquarie boasts excellent facilities including a new state-of-the-art library, a hospital with associated research facilities, an exceptional swimming and sports complex, an on-campus railway station, and refurbished teaching and research spaces.
Our main venue for the conference, a 500 seat theatre, has just undergone a massive redevelopment, receiving upgraded HD projection facilities, comfy seating, and perhaps most excitingly for our purposes, power points under all 500 chairs! The theatre also has a new digital ‘break-out’ learning space behind the theatre for smaller groups of 60, featuring 10 centrally or individually controlled wide-screen monitors each capable of projecting onto the other screens.
As summer takes off in December 2013, the campus will be awash with green and sunshine, making for a beautiful conference setting – fully WiFi enabled, of course!
