Exhibit #2

Card 2.1

Card 2. 1
Caption: The initial card of an interactive case study exercise. This card presents a problem much as would be found in a request for proposals in a real life project situation. Readers may opt to go immediately to structure a solution or study the case in more detail.

Card 2.2

Card 2. 2
Caption: The case study material is stored in a structured environment where several "people" can be "interviewed." The hypertext environment illustrated on this card is the same in structure as that used for the seminar discussions that were illustrated in Exhibit #1. In this case, however, the text in each of the seven stacks is a pre-prepared interview transcripts.

Card 2.3

Card 2. 3
Caption: This is the first of several cards in the stack where the top client, Fred Aspin, gives further information on the problem to be solved and its context. Note that the icons and numbers at the bottom of the card allow one to immediately access related information in other parts of the information network. Efficient use of this environment necessitates the adoption of a clear search strategy by the student.

Card 2.4

Card 2. 4
Caption: Having completed study of the case material, the student opts for attempting a solution. Here the student first registers in order to keep a record of the exercise and then can review key features and a description of the methodology or start the exercise.

Card 2.5

Card 2. 5
Caption: A typical card from the methodology description which outlines some of the key concepts and practical aspects of Structural Communication.

Card 2.6

Card 2.6
Caption: opting for the exercise, the student is confronted with a menu of 20 response items which can be selected in any combination. The choices appear in the window below and can be modified if the student so desires, until an "ideal" proposal is formulated.

Card 2.7

Card 2.7
Caption: When the student has completely structured a proposal, the exercise progresses to a discussion guide. Note that the particular proposal made by the student has generated the advice that two of the available 13 feedback comments should be studied. However, the student is free to browse through any combination of feedback comments.

Card 2.8

Card 2.8
Caption: The student has opted to read the comment related to the omission of Item H or I from the response menu. Note that after having read the comment, the student has made a free response asking for further information. This comment is automatically forwarded through Email to the discussion leader or to all discussion participants. Many replies may be received, thus taking the conversation through further iterations.
