Caption: The first card of a seven card presentation of a research study carried out by a student participating in a networked seminar discussion. The paper is about a comparison of paper and computer based versions of a simple expert system.

Caption: The fifth card in the same paper. Note that the paper has been "chunked" issue by issue across separate cards and each card presents a challenge for discussion. Note also that two of the other six participants in this seminar have recorded reactions to this particular card.

Caption: One of the reactions to the previous card by one of the student participants. Note that this reaction has in turn provoked a comment from another participant who happens to be the seminar leader.

Caption: The seminar leader's reaction to one of the discussants. Note that this chain of reaction and interaction may continue for an indefinite number of iterations following any number of parallel paths.
