Critical factors in making a multimedia business

Hal Josephson
The 3DO Company, California, USA
The 3DO Company is a new kind of company formed to create a single unifying standard for interactive multimedia. This will lead the creation of a mass consumer marker for interactive multimedia. To do this, 3DO has developed key technologies and is licensing them as world standards. 3DO has also assembled a partnership of companies with the skills, assets and experience to establish a new consumer electronics standard like VHS.

3DO has developed a revolutionary hardware architecture called a 3DO Interactive Multiplayer. The 3DO Interface Multiplayer is a powerful multimedia platform offering a whole new level of interactive realism, with multiple uses for adults as well as children. 3DO will not manufacture or market its own Interactive Multiplayer, but will catalyse the market for interactive multimedia by licensing the technology to the world's hardware and software companies.
