SUMMARY:TELedvisor Webinar: Educational technology\, student equity and the role of third space professionals
DESCRIPTION:Registration link \nIn the first part of this webinar\, Zhiqiang Amos Tay shares findings from his almost completed doctoral research. With the widespread use of learning technologies in higher education\, learning and teaching increasingly involves not only teaching academics but also third-space professionals\, in particular learning designers. Amos examines how they understand learning technologies\, which is critical to shaping the learning and teaching process. In this talk\, he will share the findings from a recently-published AJET paper. \nIn the second part\, Dr Anita Wheeldon discusses her research into the comparable lived experiences of professional staff and academics. Our universities are well recognised as unique places to work that have their own\, particular characteristics. The binary staffing structures of academic and professional staff manifests in two distinct lived experiences of work life. At times these differing experiences can seem confusing\, frustrating\, perplexing and combative. It can be hard to understand why these dynamics exist unless you have experienced both. Anita will discuss the implications of these dynamics for TELedvisors. \nZhiqiang Amos Tay is a teacher and a PhD candidate at QUT in the final stages of his research. His most recent paper was published in the latest AJET issue: Learning technology as contested terrain: Insights from teaching academics and learning designers in Australian higher education \nDr Anita Wheeldon (SFHEA) has experienced university life as both a professional staff manager and as an academic Program Director at UniSQ. Her most recent paper was published in the Higher Education Quarterly: Fish-out-of-office: How managerialised university conditions make administrative knowledge inaccessible to academics \nRegistration link
