SUMMARY:TELedvisors Network webinar Assuring learning in the Age of AI
DESCRIPTION:In this month’s TELedvisors Network webinar\, we will explore responses to ensuring assurance of learning in tertiary education in the age of Generative AI \n  \nThe Australian higher education sector is in the process of unprecedented transformation in response to a range of stressors\, not least the juggernaut of generative AI platforms that go well beyond simple text generation to complete entire courses of study. \nThird Space practitioners are at the intersection of this change\, and our involvement is highly contextual\, and in some cases contested\, in different settings. \nJoin us to share and discuss your experiences as we collectively work to provide Assurance of Learning. \n  \nAmong the topics for discussion: \n2026 definitions of assured learning \nWhat types of tasks do we design? \nWho designs the assured task? \nWho assures the task design? \nWe will be joined by Lenka Ucnik from TEQSA\, Darci Taylor from Deakin University and Jacqueline Trebilco from Monash University \nLenka Ucnik is the acting Director of TEQSA’s Higher Education Integrity Unit\, which is tasked with identifying and analysing sector-wide risks that impact all higher education providers and undertaking a range of activities to support the sector\, including ongoing work around the risks and opportunities of gen AI to traditional forms of teaching\, learning and assessment. Lenka has over 15 years of experience in the higher education sector working in Government\, and for both public and private providers \nAssociate Professor Darci Taylor\, SFHEA BASc(Hons)\, GCHE\, GDipEd(Sec)\, PhD \nDarci is an Associate Professor and Director\, Learning Design at Deakin University. Darci leads a multi-disciplinary team and provides strategic\, academic and operational leadership in curriculum and learning design to support the university’s strategic agenda. She leads university-wide projects to transform learning and teaching delivery aligned to Deakin’s values that support students to thrive. She was the academic lead for the CloudFirst Project that established Deakin’s approach to online learning\, and the DeakinDesign Project that developed Deakin’s learning and teaching principles that underpin Deakin’s distinct model of digital education. More recently\, Darci has led the project to develop Deakin’s Empowering-Developing-Assuring Assessment Framework to leverage the opportunities and challenges afforded by generative AI. \nDarci is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and recipient of multiple Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching and Learning Excellence. Her research interests explore barriers and enablers to student becoming and the impact of teaching transformations on staff. \nDarci will be presenting Deakin’s Empowering-Developing-Assuring Assessment Framework and discuss taking a course-wide approach to assurance of learning. \n  \nJacqueline Trebilco\, Senior Manager\, Education Development\, Portfolio of the DVC Education\, Monash University \nJacqueline is a learning and teaching leader with over 20 years’ experience in education\, specialising in university-wide curriculum and assessment enhancement through scalable systems\, governance-ready processes and capability uplift. She led the development of Teach HQ\, Monash’s open-access educator ecosystem designed to create and curate resources that influence teaching pedagogy. \nJacqueline currently leads PAAIR\, Monash’s Programmatic Assessment and AI Review project. PAAIR supports faculties to redesign assessment across whole courses so learning outcomes\, assessment tasks and feedback work together coherently\, while helping educators make deliberate decisions about AI use\, demonstration of learning\, and evidence of student capability across a program. \n  \n  \nRegister here: https://events.humanitix.com/teledvisors-network-webinar-may-2026
