SUMMARY:ASCILITE Live! Webinar: Creating trust and learning community relationships in online learning
DESCRIPTION:As academics are planning for another semester teaching online due to COIVD-19\, it is important to consider how they will develop trust and a sense of learning community for their students in the online space. Unlike the first half of this year\, when academics had the opportunity to first meet students face-to-face before the rush to remote delivery\, academics will need to consider how to foster relationships and community in the online environment from the start in the coming semester. \n \nPresenter: Petrea Redmond is an Associate Professor of Educational Technology and the Associate Head of School\, Research in the School of Education at the University of Southern Queensland. Seventy percent of the students enrolled at the university study online. Her research is situated in interrelated fields of educational technology including: online engagement; online presence; teaching presence; cognitive presence; mobile learning; online collaboration; online communities of practice; eLearning; blended learning and teaching; online learning and teaching; teaching and learning in higher education; teacher education; and Community of Inquiry. Petrea is an ASCILITE mentor and a lead editor for Australasian Journal of Educational Technology (AJET). \nRegistration: You can register for this webinar here. You’ll find session start times for different time zones here.

SUMMARY:Learning Analytics SIG Webinar: The impact of COVID-19 on the use of learning analytics in higher education
DESCRIPTION:The increase in the use of educational technology in response to the COVID-19 situation means that there are now even greater volumes of student data being generated and collected by higher education institutions. This would appear to present an opportunity for learning analytics to be utilised to help teachers and students to improve educational environments\, strategies and outcomes\, as long as the access to data\, tools and skills are available. \nIn this online\, interactive panel session we will hear from learning analytics specialists across four Australian universities about how the COVID-19 situation has impacted the use of learning analytics in their institutions. The session will also allow time for participants to share their own experiences and for discussion about what we can learn and take forward from this current situation to support future uses of learning analytics in higher education. \nYou can register for this session at the link below and for the session start times in other time zones go here.
