Conference Theme Planning for Progress, Partnership and Profit

EdTech'98 aims to:
  1. Bring together individuals and organisations with a common interest in the use of information and other technology in improving the process of human learning.

  2. Display and demonstrate recent and current developments in the application of technology to solving common learning problems and/or catering for common learning needs.

  3. Showcase outstanding work exemplifying best practice in the use of educational and information technology in a range of educational and training situations or environments.

  4. Bring together researchers in the field of educational and information technology and to promote the critical evaluation of thought, theory and research in these fields.

  5. Provide a forum for the critical examination of major, current issues of concern to practitioners and theoreticians in the fields of information and educational technology and to bring these concerns to the notice of political, economic and educational agencies and institutions.

  6. Provide opportunities for interested people to become acquainted with and develop skills in the use of new applications of technology in the context of education and training.

  7. Bring together the three major players in the use of educational and information technology - teacher/instructors, manager/administrators and commercial providers of the technology - to consider the educational, financial and technical implications of the application of technology to learning situations.

  8. Provide an opportunity for teachers and instructors to consider the broader implications and learning consequences of the use of information and other technology in learning situations.

  9. Assist managers and directors of educational institutions to plan for the integration of information and educational technology intothe curriculum so as to improve the quality of learning and the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching.

  10. Provide a market as well as opportunities for market research for commercial and semi-commercial agencies involved in the production and distribution of information and educational technology products.
