Call for Papers: ascilite2015 Conference

conference-presentation ascilite warmly invites everyone with an interest in educational technologies in tertiary education to join us at the 32nd annual ascilite conference hosted by Curtin University in Perth, Australia from 29 November to 2 December.

The Call for Papers is now open and we are inviting contributions describing critical perspectives on the use of educational technology under the themes described below.

ascilite 2015 is the forum to learn about state-of-the-art and visionary educational technologies for “globally connected” teaching and learning, and to connect with key academics and practitioners.


Global Challenges in Education

  • Digital equity & social justice
  • Learning ecosystems
  • Regional and international research
  • Digitally enabled learning for a global society

Analytics and Visualisation

  • Data science in higher education
  • Learning analytics research and development
  • Big data ethics & the future of learning

Innovations in Technology Enhanced Learning

  • Digital media learning in formal and informal settings
  • MOOCs and other population activation tactics
  • Media integration across platforms and time
  • Game & challenge based learning
  • Internet of things, e.g. digital fabrication and 3D printing
  • Research on 21st technology skills, e.g. creativity, critical thinking and transmedia navigation

Submission Options

Full Papers

Feature significant theoretical reviews, research studies in areas of emergent or innovative educational practice, case studies, evaluations, or projects.

Concise Papers

Provide a forum for discussion of key directions in research, informed practice, works in progress, reports on specialised topics, pilot studies, or brief reports on innovative practice in technology supported teaching and learning.


Provide a 500 word synopsis of a research project or practice innovation, in respect to the themes of the conference for discussion and feedback. Abstracts will be included in the conference program and in the conference proceedings and will be presented as brief oral presentations at the conference.

Discussion Papers

Describe work-in-progress and thought-papers to reach-out for feedback, discussions, and connecting and collaborating with like-minded delegates. ascilite 2015 is showcasing these ideas throughout the conference in different formats.


Offer visual representations of projects and development initiatives that provide opportunities for conference delegates to discuss the topic with presenters.

Panels / Symposia

Provide an interactive platform to challenge or defend a position, theory, model or concept; identify areas of dispute; offer alternative interpretations of well-known studies and findings. It brings experts together to explore a topic while involving the audience.

Sharing Practice

Learning from each others experiences. Insights and practices from one educator can spark the next practice for others. This session is about sharing and exchanging ideas and best practice.


Provide meeting points to discuss ongoing work and the latest ideas related to educational technology. The extended time allows for interactive and in-depth discussions. Workshops are on the day prior to the conference.

Working Groups

Connect and collaborate with other delegates. Suggest a topic and find 5-10 delegates to work  electronically before continuing face-to-face at ascilite 2015. A special session to present outcomes will be organised.
