ascilite Awards Open for Nominations

Each year, ascilite accepts applications for three ascilite awards that members are welcome to apply or nominate for and we invite members to consider nominations that they believe qualify.  The three award categories are:

  • ascilite Innovation and Excellence Award
  • ascilite Life Member Award
  • ascilite Fellow Award

The ascilite Innovation and Excellence Award, first introduced in 2011, aims to recognize innovative projects and initiatives undertaken by a team of people in support of the exemplary and research informed use of technologies for teaching and learning in tertiary education.

The ascilite Fellow Award aims to recognize the outstanding contributions of individual ascilite members in the exemplary use of, and/or research into, technologies for teaching and learning in tertiary education.

An ascilite Life Member Award is a prestigious award that recognizes the significant service and/or sustained contribution of an ascilite member to the Society. Life Member Awards are the highest recognition of achievement made by ascilite.

You can view nomination forms and obtain further information on the ascilite website awards page.  Applications are open until 11 October 2014.

National Peer Review Network Workshops

The purpose of the National Peer Review Network (PRN) is to establish communities of practice for the peer review of assessment. There is increasing national interest in discussing and implementing robust approaches to assuring higher education subject and program standards.

This network project will include key stakeholders across the higher education sector (DVCs, The Council of Deans, Quality Directors, academics experienced in external peer review of assessment, academics) coming together to discuss how the peer review of learning outcomes can be achieved effectively and efficiently within disciplines and across the higher education sector.   The development of a PRN will include State-held workshops to discuss issues and challenges and areas for collaboration.

The Higher Education Services (HES) will make a $30,000 contribution to the establishment of a two day annual Peer Review Forum which will showcase international and national speakers on peer review of assessment.
