ASCILITE 2017: 34th International Conference on Innovation, Practice and Research in the Use of Educational Technologies in Tertiary Education
The ASCILITE 2017 conference will be held at the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba from 4 – 6 December 2017. You can access the conference website here.
With a population of over 165,000 Toowoomba is the most populous inland city in the country after the national capital, Canberra. It is also referred to as the capital of the Darling Downs. Beautiful one day, perfect the next, Toowoomba has a fabulous warm temperate climate ideal for outdoor living all year round with temperatures in December ranging from 16 to 28 degrees Celsius and 60% humidity.
USQ is particularly excited to be hosting ASCILITE 2017 at this time because it coincides with USQ's 50/25 celebrations in which USQ celebrates 50 years as an educational institution and 25 years as a university.
Whilst attending the conference, delegates will be able to experience some of Toowoomba's 150 public parks and gardens, and especially the award winning Japanese Gardens, highlighting why Toowoomba is called "The Garden City".
Toowoomba is a very accessible city with suburban bus services operating throughout the city and plenty of available taxis. The city is a comfortable 90 minute drive to and from Brisbane but if you don't feel like driving, there are frequent inter-city bus services operating between Toowoomba and Brisbane. Alternatively, Toowoomba has a regular rail service to and from Brisbane on The Westlander and Toowoomba's Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport has regular flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns on QantasLink, AirNorth and Regional Express.
Key dates for the 2017 conference will be available early in the new year. In the meantime, an example of key dates is provided in the table below.
Important conference news will be published in the fortnightly ASCILITE bulletin sent to all members. If the information you seek is not available here or on the conference website, please email the Conference Convenor, Helen Partridge at USQ or email the ASCILITE Secretariat.
Sponsorship enquiries are welcome at any time. Sponsors add a critical dimension to the conference through product displays, presentations and engagement with the academic community and the conference management team makes every effort to accommodate sponsors each year.
